GT says I gained 85 sectors overnight but I'm sure my country is not growing at the moment. Every day there seems to be a slight gain in my sectors. Is the world expanding or something?

The sector count includes land and sea. So, if you create a sea unit, you now own an additional sector.
Would that explain the daily increases?
