Hypothetical situation ...

You have an airbase, and it's home to 50+ jets ... and someone decides that they want to destroy your airbase.  Is it as simple as them lauching a couple missiles at it, or do they have to worry about your jets shooting the missiles down?  Do turrets do damage to missiles?  Does anything stand a chance to a missile barrage?

the jets (and missiles and bombs) in an airbase are "sitting ducks" and does nothing to contribute to the defense of your airbase.

However, the turret on the sector do defend against air attacks. Also Any unit (including turrets) that the jet or missile fly over as it approaches your airbase gets an opportunity to attack at it. In other words, the more turrets/units directly in line of fire from attacker's air base to your air base, the weaker the air attack will be as it finally gets to your base. (it can even be completely stopped!)
