Subject: Some questions on combat elementslast

Hello there.  I had some questions on the combat system that I would appreciate help with, preferably I'm in the middle of a nuclear war.

1: First and foremost: if you invade a square with a base on it or someone's capital, but there are no land units occupying it, will you capture it without a fight?

2. Do turrets act as defenders or just a supplement to a unit occupying the spot?  Relating to question 1, if there are no units in the square can a turret be captured without taking damage?

3. What is the purpose of radar?

4. Can jets intercept other air units?

5. Say you are attacking a stationary enemy, such as a high level tank.  You have a bunch of low-level infantry queued up to attack it.  One: will the victor register damage (so is it worth attacking if you're just going to die)?  Two: Is there a minimum amount of damage that must be done to register (so should I pile on with a minimum level of men in each squad)? Three: Is there any other combat bonus in having a strong infantry compared to a weak one, or is having a level 7 infantry simply like attacking with seven level 1 infantries?

That's all I've got for now, thanks for your help.

1. Yup! You'll take the base and or capitol and your unit will receive no damage.

2. Turrets can act as stand-alone defenders as well as supplement an occupying unit's defense factor.  As it can act as a stand-alone defender, a turret can never be captured and must be destroyed.

3. Radar is built upon existing sea bases. It is used in world view to attempt to spot incoming enemy ships. (within a 100 square radius..if I'm not mistaken. Correct me if I'm wrong.)

4. Jets cannot intercept other air units. The are the cheapest form of an airstrike available.

5(1). Units that engage will always sustain damage whether on offense or defense. (2). As far as I know there is no level requirement to cause damage. (3) A level seven infantry has the exact same attack as the combined effort of seven level one infantry.
Thanks a lot.  I have one more question for you: how much does radiation impact your troops and bases?  I can see the area around your capital is practically glowing.  Also, does a nuclear bomb do physical damage to a radius or just one sector?

Actually, a single L7 infantry would provide better, even if only defensively. I noticed that even though I was using a L1 Jeep, it very rarely died even after mowing down dozens and dozens of L1 infantry along the coastlines. If just one of those infantry had merged to a L2, or even a L3, it would have killed the jeep much earlier.
