If a transport attacks to a coast cell and then a land units attacks onto the transport's cell, does the unit board?

If two of your own units of the same type attack to the same cell, do they merge?

If two of your own units of different types attack to the same cell, what happens?

If an ally attacks into your territory, what happens?

Is there a point to being in an alliance with someone AND having a treaty with them?

1) there may be to things your asking and cant tell which so I'll answer both.
If you attack/get attacked and your transport dies the unit it carries sinks too.  (same holds true for frigates and carriers).
if its your unit yes it boards.

2) no they attack the cell in the order they were set so unit jeep1 attack enemy tank and dies then jeep2 attacks.

3) see number 2

4) if not treaties are sign he might as well be your enemy.  he can attack you just as could if you werent allies only difference is now you can see them coming.

5) see 4.  treaties are what keep people from attacking you not alliances.  Alliances are basically a nato  we agree to work together but only if we feel like it.

Hope that helps some.

That helps some (especially the treaty vs alliance question) but the movement questions all assume no enemy units in the vicinity.

I know dman answered your questions, but I think I interpreted some things a little differently.  So, just in case, I'll provide my answers.

1) A land unit cannot board a sea unit via an attack.  It has to be done with a move.  (Attacks on one's own sector are never processed.)

2) No, they do not merge.  The first unit will take the sector.  The second unit will stop in the sector before, since two units cannot occupy the same sector.  (Also, a unit cannot pass through another unit in an attack.)

3) Same as #2.

4) A member of an alliance can attack your territory.  Only a treaty prevents attacks from being carried out.

5) Alliances are used to work together and coordinate strategies (since you can see each others' attack and get a private message board).  You'll most likely want a treaty so that you can send air support over your allies' lands.  Without a treaty, attacks are still processed, which means units and turrets will fire on your air units.
Okay, thanks, that answers everything.
yes good thread, thanks
Good Clarification.  Thanks Dman and Johnny The Lord God Almighty
