On the home screen, click Settings
Once in settings, give each command a key function ( I use 1 & 2)

When in a map, hold down your key and click. It will place a pin. Use the other key to remove the pin

For some odd reason, I found lots of random pins in random places, unless everyone had this?

That would be where people in your alliance put pins.  Hover over the pin to figure out who put it there.
