Check your attacks, it may be just that your attack wasn`t strong enough, so it failed
well in the past i have used one jet to attack 1 sea unit (low strength) i have also used 1 missle, but i think the last missle attack i used got shot down not sure tho

Your air attack was most likely shot down before reaching the target.
I need to modify the battle log to record that. Right now, it doesn't because there technically wasn't a battle between the attack and its actual target sector/unit.
