First we had Herrera as a two alliances map. Then Iguano. Now Jaxtaro seems like it will degenerate into the same (there are three, but with The Outcasts' current size, it could once again degenerate to two). It's really hard to balance alliances, since you can't really make a set of rules to insure that a world does not end up being about two alliances. So my suggestion is a tournament type map, which has the following rules:
- Set limit of countries. The world can't start once the limit is reached.
- Set alliances. For example, on a 20 player world, you could have 4 alliances of 5 players each.
- Selection of alliances can be random or selected (as in, either place everyone on a random alliance, or let people submit as a specific alliance; say in the previous example, I submit with 4 other friends to join the world as the same alliance).
- If one country quits, either instantly give its territory to alliance members, OR let the country be substituted immediately.
- Any sort of treachery is PROHIBITED. Traitors will be BANNED (at LEAST from Tournament Maps), and if possible, roll-back to the point before they began acting this way.
- This one is optional: Losing your capital means losing the game. Alternatively, once an alliance loses all of its players capitals, it's eliminated from the game. This is to speed up the process and not have to wait a lot "cleaning the remains", and can instantly engage another alliance.
The point of this is play in balanced maps were the only thing that matters is player skill, instead of starting in a lucky position or recruiting half of the world.
Any suggestions?
