I was thinking some and could not find this in the forum search, so I thought I would bring this up. What do people think about the possibility of adding resource locations -- not that generate $ but that grant access to, say, nukes/bombs? Only nations which contained one or more of these resource sectors could build bombs.

There would be a few locations (I am thinking like 5, or 1/5 the number of players) scattered around the map at random, perhaps not placed until at least one player has accumulated at least $160,000 (the price of a bomb) and/or placed post-start far from nation borders in unoccupied grey territory.

An alternative might be to make many locations (thinking like 1.5 per player) and possessing one of these sectors permits the owning nation to build one bomb per turn per owned resource location. This would open the question of possibly stock-piling nukes (and potentially losing them if the air base gets hit) instead of never buying any bombs/missiles until the turn they will be used.
Interesting idea. If you hve to make them this way though, you have to make them transferable to other airbases. Right now missiles can go to a frigate but otherwise they are stuck at the airbase of creation. Bombs are always stuck.

I would be willing to try it out on a world to see how it goes.

Oh? I had never even thought to try to move missiles or bombs, seeing as it is daft to ever buy more than you plan on using immediately (and I have yet to be in a situation where frigates would have been useful AND I could afford them+missiles). I agree that being able to air-transfer them (missiles and bombs) would be nice too (in general even, not just with resources).
