With allot of war games I have played. There should be some sort of supply. If a unit is surrounded by enemy forces. That unit should be cut off from supply. Then its ability to move and fight hampered unless other units can reestablish a route to supply that unit. The way it is now. Its just unrealistic. Units running around someones country and you have to chase them down. If that unit can not be kept in supply. It should be routed.

The German 6th army was stuck in Stalingrad because they were cut off. They surrendered due to them running out of supply. Thats the real world on the battlefield. If supply was in force in this game. Every body would make sure that there army's could trace a route of supply.  They will also be careful of the other player out flanking there army's and cutting off a army's supply. The way it is now. Its just a free for all. If you land a invasion. There should be a seaport supplying your invasion army.

The Capital should be the main supply point. If its taken. Then all units should be hampered and soon eliminated if they can not retake the capital. My take on making the game some what more realistic.

No...they were stuck in Stalingrad cause Hitler's crazy ass wouldn't allow Gen Paulus retreat when he knew the time was right.
I do love the idea though.  Company of Heroes does this too: capturing a resource that is not adjacent to another area you control makes the advance almost fruitless.  At least from a resource advantage point of view.  Strategically a move like that can still have value.
So every troop has a virus inside them that activates when their capital is captured? yeah, realistic.
LMAO!
Being a new guy, and having never replied to anything before, I don't know how much help I  can be with this, but I think this is an excellent idea.

Getting out maneuvered and out flanked on the battlefield is a very real and very realistic threat. Troops just aren't of much use without bullets to shoot, gasoline to burn, and food to eat. So the idea of incorporating supply lines would really step up the realism of the game and add some more depth to it.

It would also be important not to go overboard with it. Troops still have fight in them after being surrounded by the enemy and receiving no supplies. It would be more akin to denying a plant water. It would be fine for a bit, and then slowly wither and eventually die.

If you wanted to get crazy with it, you could even make actual supply lines, and make supply depots (in the same manner one makes bases and seaports). A limitation of the blitzkrieg is out running your own supplies, so adding that in will also add another element of realism to. You could even go further than that if you wanted, but personally I think the above mentioned would be far enough to capture the real feel for the logistical side of things.

Just one man's opinion...

It sucks trying to type when you have the hiccups, doesn't it?

I was cocked that night. I don't think the hiccups had any think to do with it.

I like it that another player shares my opinion to add more depth into the game.

New players always think the game is to simple.

Then they join 3 maps and play for about two weeks.

Then they want the system to be automated and take their turns for them....

Ah the endless cycle.

Well, nothing to do but sit back and see what happens to my opinion then.

It very well may change. I put on there that I was new for a reason lol. But LordShoey isn't new is he?

I would weigh in, IMHO, that supply would be a poor addition to this game. The game might benefit from a little more depth (personal favorites are cities/strategic-points-of-interest and canals), but NOT more things to keep track of. It might be more realistic, but realism != fun. The problem with air striking away all the CTs and bases within a 500-sector-range no-man's land between warring nations is bad enough already without adding supply crap to rebuild as well.

Sorry if it came out harsh -- it was meant fondly.  I too had the same reaction... however after 10 months the game still has depth -- so give it a chance.
