Subject: How often do new maps come out?last

Now that I have learned my way through the game so far in Fulgur I am curious as to when a new map will start?  I am loving Fulgur but am also excited to be on a new map on Day One and have an equal footing as the others that start on the same day.

Thanks!

There isn't a set schedule.  I sort of play it by ear, depending on how other worlds are going.  It's definitely time for a new one.

I'll probably have time to create new terrains this weekend.  I think I may add a 4096x2048 weekly map, a 2048x1024 daily map (since Fulgur is now closed), and I may try a 1024x512 map.
hey johnny, make sure it's got lots of land! maybe europe or africa :-) or have us vote on a continent

The only problem is that both of those continents are more vertical than horizontal.

I can do the entire Earth, but that's an awful lot of water!
not if you cut on the ocean. how's horizontal a problem?
** vertical

I'm actually not sure what that means!

Vertical is a problem because the game was designed to take a map that supposed to be a full sphere, which means twice as wide as high.  A vertical map would just be a vast ocean on either side.

the same way you cut out canada and mexico from Fulgur. Remove or edit the majority of Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean to suit the horizontal vs vertical size.

Also, anything that would end up being vertical... why not give it a 90 degree spin? Have the bottom of Africa starting at the leftmost end, for instance and the top of Africa at rightmost end.

I was thinking the same thing actually, it should work...

I'd love to try this map out. Then again I find Einio too big and Cerato an abomination :P.
Ya it needs to have less water, but not too much land, like make it have about 1000 small-medium islands

Another idea, perhaps let players vote on which map they would like to play next? People can submit pictures or you could post images of some possible worlds?

I like this idea. Do a poll with 3 different world options, majority wins. If it's close, do another poll with the leading two or use them both.
LOL, a map of Mars or the Moon, with just random small seas instead of oceans

It would make land availability for many more newer players, however it would also appear to be a never-ending scenario, as large conquerors would take ages to achieve their goals

I like water.

If you feel like it's too much though you could cut down on the amount. I'm not sure if you play any of the Civilization games but they have some good maps as reference that enlarge the size of continents and minimize on the size of oceans.
So the new map is coming out.......when?????

:)
Seeing how there's no real way to balance alliances and treaties, how about a "tournament" map. Make it small like Drypto, with set quantity of players, and set alliances (treaties disabled). The alliances could be random made, or maybe you have to register as a specific alliance (so friends can play together). Also, since the quantity of players would be set, you could make several at the same time, and not letting a player on one tournament world to join the others.
Any chance of a new map coming out sometime soon?  I just started playing this game.  Einio might as well be closed.  and while I seem to have found a spot in Ceranto where I can play for a while it seems doubtful that I will grow large enough to make a difference in the outcome.  I'd like to try this game starting at the begining of a map on a level playing field.

Sorry, I hope to get to them soon!  I just haven't had a chance lately.

I won't end a world until no current player objects to its closing.  Once I receive confirmation from the players still interested, I'll end the world.

you apparently haven't been watching the map closely.  There are a few "secret wars" in progress in Bogorov...
I see you just came out with Herrera.

I'm loving the little checkbox to display/not display closed worlds.
Edit: A thought, what about a checkbox to display worlds I'm currently playing on?

Nevermind, I didn't notice regardless of the checkbox, the worlds I play on are always displayed, open or not.

Only five countries remain! WHO WILL BE PATIENT LONG ENOUGH NOT TO RETIRE AND DELETE?!

*eats popcorn*

Haha I wouldn't call it much of a war.
More of a whimper...

Well if it makes you feel any better I've never spent any more than $100,000 a day against you.  What I find the most fun is Tonk and I trying to out-position each other until we eventually go to war to decide who gets to be the first person to solely own an entire map.

And John, don't be such a poor loser, it's not my fault your alliance fell apart, I'm just one country.  Plus, I would've eventually taken out all of the members of NOD anyway...

Haha believe me in some ways its welcomed. It'll be a sad day to see borogrov go under.

As will I.  I was disappointed when so many people quit playing once Assyria and I joined SA.
Worlds with a weekly cycle... or... worlds with THREE HOURS CYCLE! I'll call it, Uber-Ludricious-Speed-World-Of-WTF.

Hah! Is that ULSWOWTF for short? Going to start using that.

Or worlds with no cycle in which units are given a "speed" and move at some ratio of their movement every hour. :P
Am I the only one who thinks a mostly water map would be fun?  Throw in a bunch of islands of varying sizes and have an island hopping campaign.  Maybe add a few islands that are packed with extra resources to slightly boost the income of whoever controls them.

Also, would adding terrain features to a later version of the game be too difficult?  Add terrain such as mountains, deserts, marshes, etc..  All of which would slow troop movement and some mountains forcing units to go around or through a narrow pass.

I think that would add to the strategy of the game by making it valuable to control certain geographical areas, such as mountain passes where enemies have to bottleneck to get through.

I thought of a way to do Mountains, by perhaps have one square, split into four squares?  Forcing a unit to get off perpetual attack, navigate a path through the mountains, so to speak.  And also taking longer to conquer the area.

I like this idea, as well.
1st of all, this convo is way off topic now in all kinds of directions.  lol.

2nd, The idea of terrain has been thrown out by many others including me and goes back way before my GT birth.  Since I've been around though, Johnny has let us know that he's including this feature among several others requested (like world wrapping) in his 2.0 version of the game which he has already begun developing.  A couple of guys have previewed the current progress and are excited about it, but by Johnny's account it will be a long while still before we can expect a release.

So yea, it's popular request and will certainly make it into the next game version.  Until then though, this 1.0 version will be terrainless.  But...if Johnny or others keep making new variety maps, This game can stay fresh for good while still.
Oh lol
