I understand what you're saying, and honestly, I'd rather it be that if you capture someone else's capital, later on down the road if your main capital is captured you don't immediately lose out on the income, so long as you hold another capital somewhere.

If a country is already strong enough to topple a country and take a capital, then it would only make it stronger.  I think it would have a steamroll effect and make countries too strong too quickly.

Holding your capital has to be a primary objective.  If you could just give it up because you've grabbed another one, capitals would be almost arbitrary.

There's also the morale factor.  Losing your true capital would be damaging to a country.  It wouldn't be negated simply by having another capital that used to belong to someone else.

yeah, you've got a good point there.  i stopped thinking in terms of realism and more game mechanics.  well, i guess that's why people need to fortify their capitals, and not have them right on the edge of their borders or in a strategically vulnerable position

this all makes sense.

i guess i was thinking more for my own benifit without realizing the effect it would have on the rest of the world

i figured since i hold about three capitals other than my own i should get some kind of bounous, but now that i think about it, there are many countries that have secured mutiple capitals so there would be no real advantage for me
