When can we name our naval vessels?

Is this a feature people want?

Actually, I think it would be kinda cool, especially if you or an enemy could hover over it and see the name.

I honestly wish there was a feature that would recognize veteran troops over recruits, which would go really well with naming ("OMFG Look!  Boogra's Raiders are coming!").  I know that's a lot to get into, but it sure would be a lot of fun to actually have to care about your troops, rather than just throw them at the enemy.
but I am kinda fond of the cannon fodder...

besides, what if "boogra's raiders" was on the other side of the map and there wasn't anything left to raid.

On a side note, I would love to be able to group units like "101st" infantry or the Western Fleet. (with a single attack)

Another "Gold" feature.

you do realize that this game is described as being in a "pre-alpha" stage, right? we're play testing the game, so that johnny will have a fully functioning game at a later date.

if at that later date, he decides to limit the availability of certain things for players unless they pay a fee, then that's his choice. so please stop shitting on ideas and potentially limiting their availability for the players.

He's actually trying to help me with his suggestions, so please stop shitting on people trying to help me. hahaha

can't play-test the game unless the devs stop shitting on the players.

You do realize that if you want him to continue to develop this game, he has to be able to see a "profit" in the future.

As for limiting availability, I am looking for a way for people to get into the game free (or really cheap) and yet allow Johnny to make some money.  I am self employed and I understand that if the boss don't make money, then why on earth do it. So many people just don't understand that a company has to make a profit.  I foresee a time in the near future when Johnny thinks that this is ready for "Alpha" and that maybe he might want to slow the hemorrhaging of cash.

As for "gold account".  I am just noting things that really don't effect the "outcome" of the game but would make things easier or more user friendly.  I am aware that this is in pre-alpha, but it won't always be and maybe a basic account would be good for the noob but if they continued to play...

I am glad that my post wasn't lost on deaf ears...

nobody pays for playing in a game's alpha or beta versions. in any game. and i completely understand that he's doing this on his own time. i never questioned that. i questioned the practice of making users pay for unfinished content. content that would normally be play tested so that it wasn't buggy or non-functioning when johnny decided to "release" the game.

also- it wasn't deaf ears. i just didn't care. making a new nation isn't the end of the world.

I'm self employed as well, and at the end of the day, no matter how nice a guy Johnny is, he has to make money, and the coolest thing in the world is for someone to be able to make money doing what they love to do.

As emotionally hollow and materialistic as it may sound, I hope that making money is the cornerstone of this game.  It means it will be around for a while.
Ya know parandiac, I never said WHEN he should do this... Just that it would be a good idea for it.  I don't care if Johnny ignores every idea anyone has.  I surely didn't shit on any ideas. I just gave my 2 cents worth.  It is apparent that you lack the ability to see any side of an idea but your own.

"nobody pays for playing in a game's alpha or beta versions"

That is one hell of a statement there.  I am glad that you asked EVERYONE to see if they have ever paid for alpha/beta software.

I know that it might not say Alpha or Beta, but I am damn sure that all those WOW or Windows updates weren't debugged in free testing.

When WoW was released, they may have called the game finished, but it was anything but.  Hell, Burning Crusade released with a Hunter bug that made it so that if your pet died, you couldn't get him back!

tim: you didn't present an idea. you simply said that it should be a paid-for option in the game. i'm sure that there are several things that could be relegated to that stack, and it'd be great to keep a list of those things. but it'd be nice to playtest the ideas before i start having to pay for them.

and WoW is a hell of a lot more complicated than this game is. the analogy falls a little short.
