Can We Name Continents Please? -- Message Board / Global Triumph -- Too Much Stupid

I was wondering if we (meaning you, Johnny) could assign names to the continents, so that we can identify them when we're speaking to one another. For instance, Asia is the name of a continent, but it holds other nations as well. It would be really helpful when discussing strategy with the members in an alliance.

I actually haven't decided how I want to go about coming up with names yet. Part of me wants to name them all, part of me wants to have me and my friends do it, and part of me wants to reward players (contest, polls, rewards, etc.).

Maybe I'll give them Alpha/Bravo/Charlie names for now and decide official names later.

One easy thing might be to add coordinate grids on the overview map at like maybe 100 square grid or bigger with numbers or letters.

Something I may do when I add controls to the overview map (such as turning on/off your units, bases, etc.).

In the meantime, if you have JavaScript in your browser set to allow window status text updates, you'll see what sector you're hovering over in the status bar on the map overview page.

(In Firefox, it's Tools -> Options -> Content -> Advanced [next to JavaScript] and check "change status bar text.")

Just FYI, I posted a map with temporary continent reference names on the Help page.

hurrrrg phonetic alphabet names? this won't do.

since i will be the first to land upon "foxtrot", may i rename it officially? even if you don't make it official, i'm going to name it when my boats "discover" it.

I still think Bravo looks like some kind of messed up fish. I don't even want to think about what Charlie would represent in that scenario.

Phonetic alphabet?? haha....gets funny when you reach Golf, Hotel and India
